Academic Writing

IELTS Academic Writing

In most cases, the Academic Writing test is a little more formal. The IELTS Writing test takes 60 minutes, just like the Reading test. It is made up of two tasks. Topics on the Academic test are appropriate for anyone entering university or professional school. A diagram will be offered in the IELTS Academic Writing Task 1 portion, and students will be asked to write and describe the diagram based on what they understand (150 words). A table, chart, or graph can be used as a diagram. You should read the graph and write down what you learn from it, rather than your opinion of the data. Task 2 will require you to prepare an essay on a topic provided by the examiner.
